Latest Updates from Our Project:

Surveys are out!
18 days ago – Wed, Oct 30, 2024 at 08:37:45 AM

Hello everyone! 200 copies of the softcover, and the final proof of the LIMITED EDITION hardcover are en route to Cantabrigian HQ (aka my house). I'm just hoping the porch can support all of that weight!

You should have just received your survey from Backerkit, inviting you to confirm your address, pay for shipping, and add any fun add-ons that we have available. Please fill this out as soon as you are able.

If you have an online presence, I'd love it if you would help spread the word that there is still time to order a copy of this book! Folks can pick up their copy via our Backerkit preorder store. The interactive digital copy by itself is only $5, and the PDF is only $3, so it's a steal (though for my money, the best experience is still the physical book).

I look forward to the labor of love that will be fulfillment of your wonderful, generous pledges. Please consider adding some add-ons - like our cool holographic stickers, or an art print for your home - that will help you advertise yourself as a cool person with interesting taste in fine literature!

Much appreciation, as always, and I hope you're finding some time to be spooky this week,
Jamie

Almost Ready to Fulfill
about 1 month ago – Sun, Oct 06, 2024 at 12:10:40 PM

Hi friends, thanks for your patience as we've absolutely blown through the initial deadline we had to start fulfilling. Turns out final proofing a 500+ page book and ordering goodies for all of your pledges was a much larger task than I thought! We'll know for next time :)

In that time, we've been VERY busy. Updates below!

Most importantly: we've gone through the first proof with a fine-toothed comb. We've fixed typographical errors, rearranged some sections based on your playtesting, adjusted margins, made some design tweaks, and as a result...

A second proof for the softcover, and a first proof for the deluxe hardcover are on the way!

Second-most-important? Silly extras!

We've got stickers, 3D glasses, and a few extra surprises coming your way once we start fulfilling.

All of the custom prints that were hand-selected by our $100 tier supporters have been unboxed, and Hogan is hand-labeling and signing them as we speak.

This has been an incredible process, and I cannot believe that soon I will reach the end of what has been an 8-year journey to complete this book for you. I sincerely hope you enjoy the end result and that this maddening tome leaves you with just the right amount of sanity left once you read it.

Much fondness,

Off to the Printer!
4 months ago – Tue, Jul 09, 2024 at 04:03:52 PM

Hello dear Wyomingites. I wanted to share with you the amazing news that I have just this moment sent the first test copy off to the printer, and expect to have it back in hand just a few days shy of the end of the month!

If you've been following along, you know that our timeline has been pushed back a month in order to accommodate another round of playtesting. Thank you so much to those that have submitted feedback. Since we're still in the test printing phase there is still time to submit playtesting feedback! It takes... maybe half an hour to complete one read-through... depending on how fast of a reader you are? If you backed at a tier that included playtesting as a reward, you should have received instructions for how to do so. If you're having trouble, let me know! We're fast approaching the point at which any feedback, while appreciated, will not be able to be incorporated into the final product.

We have artwork. We have a digital playtesting file that simply needs a few clicks of my mouse to make into the genuine final article. We have the first draft of a PDF version that will now undergo another rigorous round of editing and testing. We have a plan for our stickers (stay tuned ;) ). We have the 3D glasses, and I can vouch that reading a whole book with them on may cause you to transcend this plane of reality. We have a nearly boundless amount of excitement and energy to get this book into your hands!

As a special treat, here is the lovely mock-up that our cover artist Anna-Rose made of what these things will look like. Don't they look dope???

I cannot wait for you all to get your hands on a digital or physical copy of this piece of insanity. Now back to work I go!

We Need More Playtesting
7 months ago – Sat, May 04, 2024 at 10:35:15 AM

Hey everyone, I wanted to drop a quick additional plug that if you're one of the backers who backed at the Digital Access +, Softcover +, or Deluxe Hardcover tiers, I could really use your help.

I've been very grateful to the few folks who have playtested the book so far, but this kind of feedback becomes exponentially more helpful to me as I receive more of it. Frankly I don't have the number of completed playtesting rubrics at this point that I would need to inform confident make decisions about where stories go. So I'm extending our timeline and the deadline for feedback by one month - through the end of May.

This is NBD. You pledged your hard-earned cash to this project, and you are not obligated to complete any more work than that. If I don't receive more playtests, the book will still be brilliant because the writing is brilliant. But the organization of the book will only be as brilliant as I am. I want it to be as brilliant as we all are together.

If you received the link to playtest and provide feedback I sent out a while back, I would love if you would complete at least one round of playtesting. If everyone did just that, it would make a huge difference.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you suspect you've missed an update or a crucial link that will allow you to deliver your feedback, I'd love to hear from you!

Best,
Jamie
